Mitra Foudation is a registered Trust. One of our initiatives, JeevanShaktiFund, works with families of terminally ill cancer patients.
Activities of the Jeevan Shakti Initiative include:
- We counsel the spouse to move forward in life, look for employment
- We support vocational training for spouses and adult children
- We seed a source of earning , e.g.. sewing machine / initial raw material for small business,
- Support them to get placed based on their skills/experience
- Secure the education of all the children of beneficiary families
- In select cases provide sustenance in terms of groceries during the recovery phase
- Annual meetup of all the beneficiaries for experience sharing and
Now in our sixth year, we have 25 of the 40+ families supported, continuing to need our support along with the newer opportunities that come our way. The average cost of supporting a beneficiary family is about 25K, for education, groceries in time of need, vocational support for spouse/kids who have become majors.
We have a goal of getting prepared to support 40+ families actively in a financial year. We already have 10+ new opportunities that we are assessing on top of the 25 already active.
