Life takes a 360 degrees turn with a single event in life And all one can do is to pick up the fragments of life and move on. Some of the beneficiaries of Mitra Foundation seem to be doing just that. One such beneficiary is Lalitha from Chikkaballapur. She lost her husband to cancer almost a year ago. She has two kids, a daughter and a son who are in school. Lalitha is being supported with the education fees for both the children by Mitra foundation. She presently runs the medical shop that her husband used to run. However, due to some legal issues, she may have to shut this shop.
With the responsibility of looking after the family on her shoulders, Lalitha is now trying to figure out what she can do to earn a living. When we visited her at Chikkaballapur, she showed us the bags she has stitched. She definitely has got the skills to stitch wonderful bags, mobile pouches, purses, etc. She has kept her sewing machine in the medical shop and when there are no customers in the shop, she sews away and makes these wonderful bags.

Volunteers of Mitra foundation have councelled her to turn this skill into a business so that when she has to finally close the medical shop, she will still have a source of income to support her family. As a start, we even placed orders for bags personally.

To expand her bags business she needs one more sewing machine.
So if you have a sewing machine to donate or if you want to place orders for the bags, do let us know.

Let’s spread the word about Lalitha’s bags and empower her to lead her life with dignity.
