Recently Mr. Ramaswamiji, one of the active member of Mitra Foundation team, attended 27th International conference of Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPCON 2020), which was held from February 14th – 16th, 2020 at Guwahati Medical college Hospital, Assam.

He presented from Banjara Academy from Bangalore a poster titled “Building up a work force in Volunteering”.
Karunashraya counselors also presented their work with Mitra Foundation at this conference.

Below is his excerpt of the event –

“The theme was to Entrust and Empower signifying team work and multi-disciplinary approach to Palliative care.
It was a learning experience to listen to experts from various institutions in Palliative care explain on various topics like Palliative care in India, Pediatric Palliative care, empowering compassionate communities, Ethical issues in Palliative care, Nursing issues, Quality assurance in Palliative care, Role of Volunteers and social workers and Palliative care quiz etc.
Thus, it was very much of an experience to listen the audio-visual presentations.
The “Poster Presentation” program of the conference was held on all three days and there were about 50 participants on various topics.
Participants from Tata Memorial hospital, Mumbai, Tata Medical center, Kolkata, Kerala, UP, St. John hospital, Baptist Hospital, Bangalore, Cytecare etc.
IAPCON 2020 resulted in the learning of new initiatives and unlearning of our experiences. Secondly, the state of Guwahati gave us the opportunity to visit the famous temples Kamakya and river Brahmaputra.
Lastly, I owe my gratitude to Dr. Ali Khwaja, Banjara Academy, who has been a great supporter of my activities, in volunteering & Counseling”.
